Stress

stressStress is so common in today’s society, it’s almost expected that we are stressed out.  Stress can come from many areas of life such as:

  • pressures at work and school
  • family responsibilities
  • death of a loved one
  • divorce
  • finances
  • illness
  • and many more…

If you feel that you are constantly living in “emergency mode” or are unable to find peace in your life, you may have a problem dealing with the stress in your life.

As with all emotions, stress is a natural emotion that serves a very specific purpose.  It’s meant to alert us when something is wrong in our lives.  Once the stressor has been dealt with, we are meant to go back to a normal relaxed state.

The problem with modern life is that the stressors don’t go away.  If it’s not an upcoming deadline at work or school, it’s being stuck in traffic and missing an appointment.  In short, there are so many stressors in our lives these days that we rarely have a chance to go back to our normal, relaxed state.  We never have peace.
